Activate RDS CALs
This license adds Remote Desktop Services Client Access Licenses to a Windows Server 2019 deployment that already has the Remote Desktop Services role installed and activated. It does not activate the server operating system itself — for that, see the Windows Server 2019 Standard or Datacenter guide.
- Open Server Manager on your Windows Server 2019.
- Go to Remote Desktop Services → Overview → RD Licensing Manager.
- Right-click your server name and select Activate Server.
- Complete the activation using Automatic Connection or Web Browser.
- Once activated, right-click the server again and choose Install Licenses.
- Select the license program: “License Pack (Retail Purchase)”.
- Enter the 50 CALs key provided — User CALs, Device CALs, or a combined 50 & 50 pack depending on what you chose at checkout — and finalize the activation.
