You just entered your product key and got slapped with error 0xC004F074. Frustrating.
This one shows up when Windows can’t reach Microsoft’s activation servers — usually
not your fault at all.
There are a few reasons this happens, and most of them are fixable in under 10 minutes.
Let’s go through them.

This error almost always comes down to one of these:
This fixes it more often than people expect. Open an elevated Command Prompt and run:
w32tm /resync
Then try activating again. If the clock was the issue, you are done.
net stop sppsvc
Wait a few seconds, then:
net start sppsvc
Now run:
slmgr /ato
⚠️ Warning: Do not run these commands on a domain-joined machine without checking
with your IT admin first.
Sometimes the key just needs to be re-registered. Run:
slmgr /ipk YOUR-PRODUCT-KEY-HERE
Then force activation:
slmgr /ato
