How To Activate Office By Phone

Got the “product activation required” prompt when launching Office 2019 or 2016? This happens when online activation fails — usually because the key has been used on another machine. Phone activation is the reliable fallback. It works every time when done correctly.

What Causes This Activation Error

Office requires phone activation when:

1. Online activation limit reached — the key has been activated on too many machines

4. Internet connectivity issues — activation servers unreachable at the time of install

How to Activate Office by Phone

Method 1: Get Confirmation ID Online (Fastest)

1. Copy the Installation ID shown on Step 2 of the activation window

Method 2: Call Microsoft Activation Center

Once connected, follow these steps exactly:

1. Press 1 to consent to call recording
2. Enter the security number if prompted
3. Press 3 — do NOT press 2, it will fail activation
4. Press 1 again
5. Enter your Installation ID on the telephone keypad carefully
6. When asked how many PCs, press 1
7. The system generates your Confirmation ID — write it down
8. Enter the Confirmation ID into the A B C boxes on screen
9. Click Next — your Office is activated
10. Press 2 on the keypad to complete the call
